Town of Oakham COVID-19 Information
What is Oakham's response to the COVID-19 pandemic?
Oakham issued a Declaration of Emergency on March 16th, 2020 in line with the state to expedite any actions deemed necessary to respond to or mitigate the spread of the virus. The town is working closely with the state and following any directive from the state regarding our reaction to the Covid-19 pandemic. Please see the following letter for a description of our latest efforts.
Currently the following temporary operational modifications are in effect.
- The Oakham Police Department continues to respond to 911 calls but ask that all non-emergency requests be done over the telephone 508-882-3347 and responses will be over the telephone when possible. See their official statement.
- The Oakham Fire Department and EMS services continue to operate as normal. As with the Police Department please utilize remote means of communication when possible.
- The town hall is closed to the public. Any town business should be conducted through email, telephone or the USPS.
- All public meetings will be held following the new guidelines outlined by the state. All meetings will be physically closed to the public while all reasonable attempts will be made to provide real-time viewing. If real-time viewing is not possible a comprehensive transcript will be made available. Please read this document a detailed description.
- All town meetings are closed to the public and will be conducted online where possible.
- Forbes Memorial Library will be closed to the public.Library staff will be available to answer calls and assist with digital resources.
- All schools will be closed through May 4, 2020.
- All non-essential businesses are closed.

There is help non-critical assistance available. If you need groceries or other essential items, we have volunteers ready to assist. For any non-critical assistance please contact the Board of Selectmen or the Council on Aging.
