CodeRED is a Community Notification System that allows the RRECC and local public safety/government officials to send out emergency and non-emergency information to any phone line (cellular or landline), text messages, emails, and smart phone push notifications to our residents and businesses.  Known commonly as a “reverse 9-1-1 system,” CodeRED has an important place in our communities as a means to quickly alert people to serious situations such as severe weather, evacuation notices, missing children, crime alerts, etc.

Picturing the Past:  January 25 at 7:00pm the Oakham Historical Association will sponsor a vintage photo presentation to be held at the Oakham Congregational Church, 4 Coldbrook Road (town center).  Mr. Frank Morrill, knowledgeable collector of glass plate negatives, will bring back to life buildings and landscapes once viewed around Worcester County during the late-1800s to the early-1900s. Drawing from his extensive collection of more than 10,000 glass negatives, Mr. Morrill will show vintage photographs from around Oakham, Spencer, Paxton, Worcester, and the Brookfields. He will give a brief history of photography and showcase some of his early cameras.   Mr. Morrill is a retired history teacher, president of the Charlton Historical Society, and has published several books on images of Worcester and Charlton in earlier times. He is currently working on a six-month exhibit to be held at the Worcester Art Museum, starting in October 2017.  Refreshments will be served following the presentation. This event is free and open to the general public. Handicap accessible.  Snow date is February 1.  For more information people may contact Linda Housman at 508-882-3990 or Khousmansr@gmail.com.  Frank Morrill is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable speaker—you’ll be glad you attended!
